Clothing
Minnesota winters can range from harsh negative temperatures to balmy temperatures where snow is melting. Minding weather conditions and dressing in layers is important in creating comfortable skiers.
As Coach Nick Hall states, "There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices!"
There are several clothing items that skiers will need to remain comfortable during practices and at races, but most skiers will already have at least some of them. It is not necessary to purchase new clothing if you already have gear that fits and works well for you.
IMPORTANT!
When racing, skiers wear a thin Lycra suit on their bodies. It's critical that skiers wear appropriate under-layers to stay warm.
Racers should dress with needed layers over their racing suit before and after their race for warmth.
The following are items skiers should be sure to have before the season starts.

Eye protection
Skin protection
What about dryland training?
If there isn't sufficient snow to ski, skiers should plan on running... Quite a bit. Dress according to the temperature and conditions.
- Good running shoes
- Wool socks, if running in snow!
Is there anything skiers should avoid for clothing and protection?
Yes.
- Cotton
- Dressing for Alpine (downhill) skiing
