Booster Club & Fundraising
ISD 196 Nordic Ski Booster Club
Registration and payment through each skier's school (via MyPaymentsPlus) covers the cost of coaches, transportation to and from meets, and insurance. There is a whole lot more needed, though, to support a Nordic Ski team in having a fun and successful ski season. This is where the ISD 196 Nordic Ski Booster Club comes into play.
Your Booster Club fees cover
- Supplemental coaching
- Team uniforms
- Waxing equipment and supplies for group ski waxing pre-race
- Course supplies
- Course grooming equipment (Coach Abery and parent volunteers create and maintain the trail at Valleywood Golf Course!)
- Team inventory of rental skis (See Ski Rental Program for more information.)
- Creation and use of this website and the TeamSnap app
Skier families will be invoiced through TeamSnap during enrollment according to the following structure.
The ISD 196 Nordic Ski Booster Club Board is run by five leaders. Toward the end of the 2021-2022 Nordic season, there will be opportunities for parents to volunteer for these positions for the following year.
Fundraising opportunities
Individual fundraising: Grocery bagging at Cub
Individual fundraising opportunities allow skiers to earn money and apply it this year or the following year to activities or Booster Club dues. For instance, a skier may plan to attend the optional Winter Ski Training Trip. The trip costs $200, and if the athlete earns $50, they can apply the funds toward the cost of the trip.
There are several days scheduled at Cub grocery stores in Eagan on Diffley and Cliff and then in Rosemount, where athletes may sign up to bag groceries. Shifts are two hours long, and up to six athletes are allowed to sign up for each shift. Each shift requires one or two parent volunteers.
Athletes should sign up for only one slot across the different days available, so that everyone who wants to has an opportunity to bag groceries. Should there be vacant spots remaining, Melissa Riley (Fundraising) will notify everyone of those opportunities.
Athletes will sign in upon starting and ending their shift. Athletes will introduce themselves on behalf of the ISD 196 Nordic Ski Team and offer to bag groceries for customers, and customers will make donations (we hope!). The day's donations will be added together and divided by the number of athletes who volunteered that day. These funds will be available for use through the Booster Club.
More information will be available to skiers that day.
Check the TeamSnap calendar to see the days and locations available!
Note to varsity skiers: Be sure to schedule around your Saturday practices.
Note: The form has been removed for the season and will return next season.

Team fundraising: Restaurant nights
On restaurant nights, the restaurant supporting fundraising for the ISD 196 Nordic Ski Team will provide a percentage of the revenue that night to the team.
Scheduled restaurant nights are on the TeamSnap calendar. More information will be available as a restaurant night approaches, so that you may share the information with family and friends.
